NGIF Emissions
Testing Centre Program

Supporting the development and demonstration of clean technology to reduce methane emissions.

Overview

The NGIF Emissions Testing Centre (ETC) Program is a platform offered to cleantech startups to accelerate the commercialization of methane emissions measurement, monitoring, and mitigation technologies through testing and validation.

The Program is unique in that it provides cleantech companies with free access to testing and commercialization support for rapid scale-up of technologies from concept to commercial-ready deployment. The Program's selected cleantech startups have access to a university laboratory and live industrial operating sites for testing, validation, and commercialization support to accelerate market adoption.
  • Intake: The process requires applicants to complete an intake form indicating their technology value proposition and their need for either lab trials, field trials or commercialization support. Applicants are reviewed by the relevant partners for eligibility on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • University host site: University of Calgary Research Centre hosts laboratories for controlled testing of startups and a data portal.
  • Live industrial host site: Tourmaline Oil Corp./Perpetual Energy Inc. West Wolf Lake Gas Plant hosts live testing of startups including a network of upstream wellsite facilities and D&C operations.
  • Data and reporting: NGIF Accelerator supports a series of data and outcome reports for the startup to use to accelerate their commercialization.
The NGIF Emissions Testing Centre Program will ensure cleantech companies have a dedicated space to develop, test, and field-validate technologies to measure, monitor, and reduce methane emissions and to fast-track methane technologies to market through knowledge dissemination and fostering commercialization.
